Yes it depends on the species; the three you show there are common in a lot of cities and are often found around humans, if the human's don't eat them! Salvator and bengalensis are present in forests but probably at much lower densities than around people and also much harder to see. Varanus niloticus and V. panoptes are  the same. But Varanus exanthematicus stays away from people, and so do species like dumerilii and rudicollis. Varanus olivaceus is easily the shyest animal I have ever worked with.

I showed the pictures to some friends and one of them thinks it is a serious case of skin fungus. You should get it checked by a vet and if it is fungus have all three animals treated. It can be very difficult to destroy because it isn't obvious until the infection is already serious
